Delete Your HouseHeld Account

This page explains how to request deletion of your HouseHeld account and all associated data. HouseHeld is published by HouseHeld LLC.

How to delete your account

Account deletion is available inside the HouseHeld app. Only a parent or guardian who knows the household master PIN can delete the account.

  1. Open HouseHeld and sign in as a parent.
  2. On the profile screen, tap Household Settings (top left).
  3. Scroll to the bottom and tap Delete Account.
  4. Enter your master PIN to confirm it is you.
  5. Tap Delete Everything in the confirmation dialog.

Deletion runs immediately. There is no waiting period, no grace period, and no way to recover the account afterwards — you are signed out as soon as it completes.

If you cannot access the app

Email privacy@househeld.app from the address on your HouseHeld account, with the subject “Delete My Account.” We verify that you own the account before deleting anything, then action the request without undue delay and in all cases within the timeframe required by applicable law.

What is deleted

Deleting your account permanently removes all of the following:

  • Your parent account and sign-in credentials (email address and password).
  • Your household, its name, and its settings.
  • Every profile in the household — parents and children — including each child’s name, date of birth, and avatar.
  • All chores, chore assignments, schedules, and completion history.
  • All chore-completion photos and reward images stored in our file storage.
  • All rewards, reward redemptions, and their history.
  • All points and allowance records, including the full point-transaction ledger.
  • All XP, levels, badges, and the full XP-transaction ledger.
  • All notifications and push-notification device registrations.
  • Any pending data-export requests and their contents.

These records are hard-deleted from our database. They are not archived, anonymised for analytics, or moved to another system.

What is kept, and for how long

We retain a minimal record that a deletion happened. Under the Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) we must be able to demonstrate that parental consent was obtained and honoured, and that deletion requests were carried out. Destroying that evidence along with the data would defeat its purpose, so these records deliberately survive deletion:

What we keep Why How long
Consent audit log — the type of each consent event (granted, withdrawn, exported, deleted), its date and time, and the privacy-policy version in force COPPA compliance evidence Retained indefinitely
Deletion record — the date of the request, its outcome, the account email address that made it, and the household or child-profile name it concerned Proof the deletion was requested and completed Retained indefinitely
The IP address and browser/device identifier captured at the moment of each consent or deletion event Verifies who gave or withdrew consent Retained indefinitely

Links from these records to the deleted account and profiles are severed, so they can no longer be used to look up a person in our system. But we want to be precise rather than reassuring: the account email address, the household or child name, and the IP address recorded at the time are kept as plain text in the deletion record. No other personal data survives.

The consent audit log is append-only by design — entries cannot be edited or removed, including by us.

Deleting only part of your data

You do not have to delete your whole account to remove a child’s data. Both options below delete that child permanently and leave the rest of the household intact.

Delete one child’s profile

In the app: Household Settings → Manage Profiles → tap the child → Delete Profile.

This removes that child’s profile, chores and completion history, photos, points and allowance records, XP and badges, reward redemptions, and notifications. The same minimal deletion record described above is kept.

Withdraw consent for one child

In the app: Household Settings → Privacy → tap Withdraw next to the child.

Withdrawing COPPA consent is deletion — it runs exactly the same erasure as above. We do not keep a child’s data after consent is withdrawn.

You cannot delete the last remaining parent profile in a household; delete the whole account instead.

Automatic deletion while your account is active

Separately from anything you request, HouseHeld deletes older records automatically. A cleanup job runs once a day at 00:00 UTC and removes:

Record Deleted after
Completed chores (approved or rejected), together with their photos 365 days
Notifications you have read 90 days
Point-transaction and XP-transaction ledger entries 3 years
Contents of a completed data export Cleared once the download link expires

These windows apply to live accounts. When you delete your account, everything above is removed at once regardless of age.
